No offense guys, but I could not disagree more.

Lieberman totally angered the RATs just by appearing at that podium last night, before he spoke one word. And by being a part of that trial-balloon VP pick sleight-of-hand.

And he knows it. He showed guts.

I have wondered how much of Lieberman’s experience with Gore and 2000 impacted his decision to leave his party. Remember, he know much more than the public OR the media.

I’m not doubting he’s feeling the heat, but I’m sure he’s also working behind the scenes to smooth things over as well. I am not trying to appear as though I disapprove, I realize the Senate is a “country club” atmosphere, and like it or not, Sen. Lieberman needs the support of Democrats in the future in order to pass bills, etc. His speech was narrowly tailored enough that he could criticize without being overly critical. Yes, it did take guts for him to appear, especially in this highly partisan season.

Zell Miller could afford the luxury of blasting the Democrats in the manner he did since he had no further political aspirations.

Now, having said all that, perhaps I’m a little miffed at Joe’s post speech interview on MSNBC. He didn’t exactly rally to Palin’s defense when asked repeatedly about her experience and ability to lead, insteading falling back on “I’m voting for John...blah blah blah” and essientially he let the chick interviewing him get in all her Dem talking points on Palin without stepping in. Of course, Joe isn’t the most confrontational chap in the Senate so that could explain his mealy mouthedness in the interview, but still, I thought it was weak, considering the speech he had just given.
