The polls measure reality. For there to be any chance at all now requires two things:
1) A strong convention
2) An opportunity for her to do what she was selected to do. That is win moderate women voters over. That’s not going to happen if every other minute of the day there is perpetual talk about what a right wing zealot she is wrt abortion. Abortion needs to be off the front page ASAP. It does NOT win moderate women. By definition, they don’t CARE about abortion in either direction. Bible thumping and screaming in their faces about how evil it is will just send them the other direction.
I think the opportunity to win over women in the middle is by addressing the pregnancy issue head on. Sarah should relate how she and Todd, like many other parents, would have preferred if Bristol had waited to have a child until she were married and better equipped to handle the responsibility of raising a child. They love and support their daughter and are looking forward to having a grandchild. They will help Bristol and the baby. This, I believe, would strike a chord with many in middle America.
