McCain’s message is already entrenched in “tough times” talk. It’s a bit ridiculous when you consider how resilient our economy has been.

IMHO he is making the classic mistake of addressing issues brought up by the opposition. I think if he moves quickly he can change the thrust of the campaign. Times are tough is the mantra of the Lefties/MSM. Even addressing it gives it standing. That's a mistake. Tough is a relative term. What I consider tough times is determined by my experience. I remember my Mom used to address bad times in our family with the admonition, “Someday you'll look back on these as the good ol’ days!” How right she was!

Again,IMHO, I wonder if the naming of Palin doesn't signal the beginning of a new campaign strategy. This pregnant daughter thing will run its course in a day or two and then it's up to McCain/Palin to seize the initiative by going on the offense. I keep seeing articles saying the GOP has been forced into a defensive posture. The MSM saying something does not make it so, and John McCain needs to remind voters of that at every turn. When the press makes a charge and then McCain responds to it the charge is given merit in the mind of the voter.

I'm content to wait and see what the next few days, weeks bring. Truth is, based on facts like the war, oil prices, the handling of Gustavo, and a dozen other things McCain/Palin have a pretty solid hand with which to slap down Obama/Biden.

It's not like were suddenly seeing new tactics by the Lefties/MSM. Goodness, it's been the same play book for almost 30 years now. And we fall for it time and again.
