How Obama lost the election

DENVER - Senator Barack Obama's acceptance speech last week seemed vastly different from the stands of this city's Invesco Stadium than it did to the 40 million who saw it on television. Melancholy hung like think smog over the reserved seats where I sat with Democratic Party staffers. The crowd, of course, cheered mechanically at the tag lines, flourished placards, and even rose for the obligatory wave around the stadium. But its mood was sour. The air carried the acrid smell of defeat, and the crowd took shallow breaths. Even the appearance of R&B great Stevie Wonder failed to get the blood pumping.

The speech itself dragged on for three-quarters of an hour. As David S Broder wrote in the Washington Post: "[Obama's] recital of a long list of domestic promises could have been delivered by any Democratic nominee from Walter Mondale to John Kerry. There was no theme music to the speech and really no phrase or sentence that is likely to linger in the memory of any listener. The thing I never expected did in fact occur: Al Gore, the famously wooden former vice president, gave a more lively and convincing speech than Obama did."

On television, Obama's spectacle might have looked like The Ten Commandments, but inside the stadium it felt like Night of the Living Dead. The longer the candidate spoke, and the more money he promised to spend on alternative energy, preschool education, universal health care, and other components of the Democratic pinata, the lower the party professionals slouched into their seats. The professionals I sat with were Hillary Clinton people, to be sure, and had reason to sulk, for an Obama victory might do them little good in any event.

This is a really excellent article. Here are two quotes that stand out...

...rejecting Clinton in favor of the colorless, unpopular, tangle-tongued Washington perennial Joe Biden was a statement of weakness. McCain's selection was a statement of strength. America's voters will forgive many things in a politician, including sexual misconduct, but they will not forgive weakness.
Obama is the most talented and persuasive politician of his generation, the intellectual superior of all his competitors, but a fatally insecure personality. American voters are not intellectual, but they are shrewd, like animals. They can smell insecurity, and the convention stank of it.

The Democrats were watching the brightest and most articulate presidential candidate they have fielded since John F Kennedy snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

He's "clean" too, according to Biden.......

“Landslide?!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“I’ve been really depressed these couple of days and even started smoking again because I’m really scared we might lose and never see Sarah Palin on the national stage again.”

Sending you something to listen to to lift your spirits. Don't worry, there will be a landslide McCain/Palin victory. Watch the convention this evening and through to McCain's acceptance speech Thursday evening. That will make you feel better to!

I am a smoker, and you should be so proud of yourself for quitting, but not hard on yourself for going back when under stress. Just quit again when you can because you health is most important. Enjoy these videos and smile! :)

Remember, this was before Bill, Hillary, Barry and Michelle decided to split up and marry each other’s spouses. Hillary is no stranger to gravy training. Bill is no stranger to strange. It was a win win. Hillary let Bill know at the celebration of Reverund Killwhities reception when she dissed him and smooched Barry.

Excellent analysis. I agree that Obama appears to be a sociopath. Abandoned by both his mother and father and confused about his own identity, Obama is angry and distant when it comes to relating to people. I found it especially telling that during the Dem convention, there were no personal friends of Obama who could talk about their personal experiences with Obama, whether it was in school or on the streets of Chicago. Obama is a loner who fits the Profile of the Sociopath

And that was before McCain was most presidential during the run up to Gustav. Before McCain chose to honor the future rather than the past by choosing Governor Palin.

From the article:

Obama is the most talented and persuasive politician of his generation, the intellectual superior of all his competitors, but a fatally insecure personality.

I've neither seen nor read anything to support the author's statement regarding Obama's intelligence. He and his wife are affirmative-action "success" stories (more like nightmares, really).

...John McCain, in a maneuver worthy of Admiral Chester Nimitz at the Battle of Midway, turned tables on the Democrats' strategy with the choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Precisely.

And do these veterans approve of using the funds dedicated to the GI benefits for those who never put on the uniform, but are ‘community’ activists?

I hope that he does lose.

But the reality of the situation is that he has not lost as of now. And due to a combination of the stupidity of the American voter, a large segament of “Americans” that are ready, willing , and eager to sell their souls to the government for “free” health care and being made “secure” he stands a more than an even chance to win. Couple this with the full support of the Socialists a/k/a Democrat propganda machine known as the main stream media, his chances of winning increase even more.

I feel as if the entire country is being used by Obama as his personal therapy. The creepy thing is, of course, that this goes way beyond Oprah-type feel good therapy. Hitler was also a bitter loner and reject who used the amoral power of being a sociopath to manipulate into being a society that was essentially his form of therapy, making him the top dog and the ultimate power and compensating for his insecurities, resentments and lack of identity.

A quick summary of the article (with which I totally agree).

Old age and guile trumps youth and enthusiasm.

Brilliant commentary, fascinating insight. Paradoxically, Palin’s inexperience is a qualification in itself — it puts the issue of experience on the table, and it’s an ace played by the maverick.

It also addresses why Obama “saddled an old and unpopular Washington warhorse” (a rather florid way to spell it, but whatever).

It now appears that a woman will decide this election, and my money’s on Michelle Obama to sabotage the Dems. When the SS Obama had the choice of sailing to victory with Clinton, Michelle was down in the hull executing the command: drill here, drill now.

The narcissist and the sociopath are separate people. The narcissist is susceptible to show fear; the sociopath is ruthless in a confident extreme. So who is Obama?

Obamanation, like many other communist Democrats is incapable of speaking in intelligent sentences and paragraphs. They Stutter, stammer, you know, like, etc. etc. and when they’re finished I dare anyone to give me one cogent thought.

Leftists often appear sociopathic for two reasons -

one, they appear to have no core values; this is a misconception, they HAVE core values, but know that they must hide them.

two, all collectivists are pragmatists of the worst sort, willing to compromise any values they have in order to achieve their collectivist goals.

“No country’s politics depends more openly on friendships than America’s, yet Obama has not a single real friend, for he rose so fast that all his acquaintances become rungs on the ladder of his ascent. One human relationship crowds the others out of his life, his marriage to Michelle, a strong, assertive and very angry woman”

Nailed it.

Ballgame.
