Good to hear from old Bill Safire.

Nice old school takedown of the One.

Actually, anything but a narcissistic, Greek column setting for Barry would have been a fake.

It was perfect.

Did Dr. Sowell use the "audacity of hype" phrase also?

At any rate, what a great opportunity now for Republicans to distinguish themselves in the face of Gustav.

What a coup if they could appeal to the common sense of the American people by pointing out the excesses and waste of the spectacle last week in Denver by contrasting it with a much simpler Convention that would concentrate dollars on helping real people in a real hurricane.

Last week's Hollywood and DNC waste on "smoke and mirrors" to promote a smoke and mirrors pair of candidates whose only promise is an illusory "change" cannot compare with the real change that ordinary people could see by such a move!

The brave souls who adopted our Declaration of Independence and framed America's Constitution did not promise a government that would do everything for us, but they did perform a miracle which freed ordinary men and women from government tyranny, enabling them to transform the wilderness and become a beacon of liberty for all the world.

The time to reassert their genius is now. Let's have real change! Enough of the glitz and silliness, already.

If he knows which cave bin Biden —oops — bin Laden is hiding in why doesn’t he tell the CIA?

Do people notice the number of gimmicks the Obama campaign is using to make their candidate look like Presidential material? A fake “Presidential” seal, a whirlwind World tour, a speech in front of a “Greek temple” supposed to evoke Washington. If they thought their candidate struck people as “Presidential” on his own, would they spend one dollar or one minute doing this?

Why not actually support our military instead of cutting their funding? When it comes to the war, the Democrats talk the talk but don't walk the talk. Obama and Slow Joe are Senators. They can bring their party on board by voting to give our troops in Afghanistan everything they needed to win it. They don't have to wait til next year to get the job done!

Obama made a promise in his acceptance speech that was ROTFLMAO.
He promised in front of 38 million viewers , that as Commander in Chief he would

” keep our water clean and our toys safe;”

all too like the collectivist fantasy that opened and closed the Beijing Olympics
LOL! How fitting that is!

When the Obamas and the Bidens came out after the speech the Obamas were not smiling...They knew then it was over for them. When Barry tried to kiss Michelle she would turn her cheek (hate to say it but they reminded me of a couple of chimps, one trying to kiss the other)..

BUT, the knockout punch came the next day from a gorgeous barracuda named Sarah.

Welcome back, Bill!

Gawd, my first thought, too, when I saw the Obambi speech venue was: AMERICAN IDOL.

With Chris and Keith as Randy and Paula.

(Juan Peron:)
People of Europe, I send you the Rainbow of Argentina

(Che:)
Spain has fallen to the charms of Evita
She can do what she likes, it doesn’t matter much
(Aide #1:)
She’s our lady of the new world with a golden touch
(Aide #2:)
She filled a bull-ring, forty-five thousand seater
(Che:)
But if you’re prettier than General Franco, that’s not hard

(Aide #1:)
Franco’s reign in Spain should see out the forties
So you’ve just acquired an ally who
Looks as secure in his job as you
(Aide #2:)
But more important current political thought is
Your wife’s a phenomenal asset, your trump card

Chorus:

(Peron and Aides:)
Let’s hear it for the Rainbow Tour
It’s been an incredible success
We weren’t quite sure, we had a few doubts

(Peron:) Will Evita win through?
(Aides:) But the answer is yes

(Peron:)
There you are, I told you so
Makes no difference where she goes
The whole world over just the same
Just listen to them call her name
And who would underestimate the actress now?

(Che:)
Now I don’t like to spoil a wonderful story
But the news from Rome isn’t quite as good
She hasn’t gone down like they thought she would
Italy’s unconvinced by Argentine glory
They equate Peron with Mussolini, can’t think why

(Eva:)
Did you hear that? They called me a whore!
They actually called me a whore!

(Italian admiral:)
But Signora Peron it’s an easy mistake
I’m still called an admiral
Yet I gave up the sea long ago

(Aide #2:)
More bad news from Rome; she met with the Pope
She only got a rosary, a kindly word
(Che:)
I wouldn’t say the Holy Father gave her the bird
But papal decorations, never a hope
(Aide #1:)
She still looked the part at St. Peter’s, caught the eye

(chorus)

(Peron:) Will Evita win through?
(Aides:) But the answer is ...
(Che:) A qualified
(Aides:) Yes

(Che:)
Eva started well, no question, in France
Shining like a sun through the post-war haze
A beautiful reminder of the care-free days
She nearly captured the French, she sure had the chance
But she suddenly seemed to lose interest
She looked tired

(Che:)
Face the facts, the Rainbow’s starting to fade
I don’t think she’ll make it to England now

(Aide #1:)
It wasn’t on the schedule anyhow

(Che:)
You’d better get out the flags and fix a parade
Some kind of coming home in triumph is required

(chorus)

(Aide #2:) Would Evita win through?
(Aide #1:) And the answer is
(Aide #2:) Yes
(Che:) And no
(Aides:) And yes
(Che:) And no
(Aides:) And yes
(Che:) No

(chorus)

(Aides:) Would Evita win through? But the answer is
(Aide #2:) Yes
(Aide #1:) Yes
(Aide #2:) Yes
(Chorus of aides:) AND NOOOOOOOOO.....

(Chorus sotto voce:) Let’s hear it for the Rainbow Tour its been an incredible......mistake.......

... the target is the individual American voter watching a TV or computer screen at home,...

I knew Obama blew the speech when I saw his angry face shouting on the TV screen. Most sane people don't want that in their living rooms. You'd think his advisors would know better.

Like a schoolmarm wagging her finger and looking down upon the children. That's how the Democrat party sees grown adults. As children whom the state needs to take care of since they can't do it themselves.
