Sarah Palin: the making of the candidate (photo included)

-- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is as complex as the place she calls home. Plucked from near-political obscurity to become Sen. John McCain's running mate, Palin either has pitch-perfect political instincts or has benefited from a spectacular run of luck that has landed her in the ultimate right place at the right time.

It is easy to see why McCain was drawn to her; their political resumes have much in common.

In my state of Pennsylvania Republican politicians get in bed with gambling casino operators, solar power companies and countless other businesses handing our money (taxes) over to them.

That kind of stuff is wrong and it was wrong of Alaska politicians to feed at the teat of oil companies and other interests up there.

Is using tax money to subsidize sports stadiums (that’s what “Republicans” do here in PA) right? NO WAY!

I’m a pro-business Republican who believes business should be left alone and not subsidized by my taxes.

Regulations need to roll back instead of tax money flowing out to “help” business.

Sarah Palin is shaking up business as usual politics in Alaska which isn’t worthy of being called “Republican.”

I think that’s why McCain picked her.

I hope you realize that by posting that picture, you’ve just lost us the PETA vote.

I have never had any moose meat, have had elk, buffalo, wild boar, venison, and rabbit.

Very much like beef. I've had moose chili and it was quite tasty.

“She has succeeded in her own limited policy agenda as a Republican governor by having the Democrat caucus in lock-step with her.”

Odd, all Palin did was fight against corrupt GOP politicians, which is the conservative thing to do. I have yet to see Palin support a liberal cause. Seems like the liberal media is trying to plant a seed that has no truth to it.

Living off the land is hard work. Hmmmm, mooseburgers goooood.

If you think she can make mooseburgers out of that caribou, you are giving her Christ-like powers.

“We need to extend the Ann Coulter rule here.”

Speaking of our Ann, where has she been lately? Maybe missing something, but I haven’t seen or heard her in quite some time.

All of these “softer hit pieces” crack me up. Nearly all end up saying how she must convince the country she is prepared to be “a heartbeat away from the presidency,” yet they never question Obama’s lack of experience to be the president!

I can live with that. I suspect there is nothing Sarah Palin can do to appeal to the PETA, NOW, DUer's vote,Anti-American Vote which is why we are voting for McCain/Palin

Actually the picture is of a caribou. The name Caribou comes, through French, from Mi’kmaq qalipu, meaning “snow-shoveler”, referring to its habit of pawing through the snow for food. In many parts of the world they are called reindeer. Reindeer hunting by humans has a very long history and caribou/wild reindeer “may well be the species of single greatest importance in the entire anthropological literature on hunting.” The reindeer travels the furthest of any terrestrial mammal. The caribou of North America can run at speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph) and can travel as much as 5,000 km (3,100 mi) a year.

Maybe Governor Palin can take care of the caribou problem at ANWR single-handedly.

"“There’s a real question whether she’s a Republican or a Democrat,” said GOP state Rep. Mike Hawker."

In true American style, and in all honesty .. there is good and bad in each party.

There will always be difficulty (the way voters think today) in categorizing an American.

Whigs/Tories .. Republican/Democrat .. The men that gathered so heatedly in the early days and hammered out a politic had only one goal ... individual freedom with a God guided morality to light the way out of the darkness of tyranny.

That is why we cherish the prayer, "God bless America"
