Obama and Biden sat down with Kroft Friday night in Pittsburgh for an interview to be broadcast on 60 Minutes this Sunday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
"Let me tell you the reason I picked Joe Biden," Sen. Obama told Kroft. "Number one, he can step in and become president. And I don't think anybody has any doubt about that. Number two is that if I'm in the room making the kinds of tough decisions that the next president's going to have to make both on domestic policy and on international policy, then I want the counsel and advice of somebody who's not going to agree with me 100 percent of time - in fact, somebody who's independent enough that can push back and give me different perspectives and make sure that I'm catching any blind spots that I have. And Joe Biden doesn't bite his tongue.
"Number three, is somebody who I know in his heart cares about the American people and the American dream, and is willing to fight for them as hard as he can. And Joe Biden fit that bill," Obama added.
"What do you think of Senator McCain's vice presidential choice? And how does it change the dynamics of this campaign?" Kroft asked.
"Well, I don't know Governor Palin, I have not met her before. I had a brief conversation with her after she was selected to congratulate her and wish her luck - but, not too much luck! - on the campaign trial. And she seems to have a compelling life story. Obviously, she's a fine mother and a up-and-coming public servant," Obama said. "So, it's too early for me to gauge what kind of running mate she'll be.
"My sense is that she subscribes to John McCain's agenda.

Excuse me but is it okay with the Obamassiah if I speak for myself? Yes I have doubts about Biden abilty to be President. In fact it would seem that his own party did since they went with a youn g unknown inexperienced person (you) over someone like Biden.
The Dim leadership has to be in total panic at this point.
I'm not worried about Sarah taking him on, at all.
Why do you have to explain your choice of VP a week later? What are you worried about?
His concern for the world’s poor once again shows his lack of integrity. One of those world’s poor is George Obama his own brother...oh never mind you are talking about our tax dollars not his own money.
Sarah Palin is a nascent Margaret Thatcher.
God forbid she succeeds to the presidency by the death of McCain, but if she did, she seems smart enough to surround herself with the best advisers—like Thatcher—to apply her judgment to their counsel.
No foreign policy experience? Neither does Baraq! Neither did Dubya or Bubba.
It’s judgment and ideology that we want in a president and she has demonstrated she is LOADED FOR BEAR in that regard.
We should all pray for the McCain/Palin ticket, that God should spare this nation the scourge of Marxism and, instead, bless us with a good man and a great running mate.
Besides, didn't Obama now recently declare yet another state? A 58th State ??? /laughs
Not likely.
“Let me tell you the reason I picked Joe Biden,”
You mean ‘token’ Joe?

Biden is #2, #2 = poop, Biden is poop, I agree
OMG....Biden acting like an older uncle at a backyard BBQ after a bottle or 2 of barley juice. Thats embarrASSing!
Well that big shin-dig in Denver turned out to be such a waste of time and money.
Fixed it
And I’ve already heard that Alaska is a small insignificant state, and some even mention that Alaska isn’t even connected to the Lower 48 states.
Alaska is huge in land area. Governor Palin has dealt with energy issues and national defense issues, as there are many military and defense installations in Alaska.
And why do the Dem. talking points say that Alaska isn’t connected to the lower 48 states? Obama is from Hawaii, which likewise isn’t connected to the mainland. What the heck is the point?
Remember that Biden is 65 years old too....he’s not too used to the vigors of a frantic campaign either since his elections in De. have been cakewalks.
Wasn't he listing the good things about Biden?
Obama and the Democrats just had the entire week at the convention to explain how wonderful Biden was!
Bwahahaha...Democrats are wetting their pants! They’ve been had! Bwahahaha!!
