Surgery will have to wait for Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman, who decided Wednesday he'll play this season despite two torn ligaments in his left knee.

Have to admire his courage but this is crazy. One helmet to the knee, or an awkard turn and his career is over. The Chargers coaches and GM need to sit down with Merriman and tell him to get surgery.

I was listening to a local sports show with an ExHusker who played in the NFL...he said a player is crazy to play with an injury...the franchise will praise the player while he playing then label him as injury prone during contact negotiations...

Stupid move. Osi’s injury was mild in comparison and the G-men shut him down. Would rather have him playing for another 5 years then 1 and done.

Charger fan here.
Merriman should have had surgery in the off season and could have been playing by early or mid 08 season
I have had 8 major knee orthopedic surgeries including a total knee replacement.
Shawne is not thinking

Stupid. I am in pre-op P.T. for a torn ACL,MCL, and a torn meniscus. I dont see how he can physically pull it off. It will just make him a target.
