Why must everything be America's fault?
An article published at the UK Times Online, brought on a firestorm of commentary from readers. In the literally hundreds of comments, many were in agreement that if there is any question of the girl’s age, an investigation is warranted. There were also those who thought that even if she were underage, she should still be allowed to keep her medals.
Yet in addition to the comments arguing whether age should matter or not, there were a fair number of those that suggested the only reason this investigation has commenced is that the U.S. team took second place. In other words, American sour grapes. Here’s a sampling (all spelling and syntax from the original):
Americans moaning about cheating……..let us remain you guys because Americans don’t cheat do they…..Marion Jones,
Jerome Young, Kelli White to name just a few.
How come none of you Americans mention these CHEATS ???

Who cares what a bunch of simpletons think, their opinions do not matter at all on this.
Marion lost her medals and is in jail!
Marion Jones? Oh yeah, the American government was staunchly defending her saying “Marion Jones is not using drugs”. Give me a break. The Chicoms are cheaters, that’s why they’re Chicoms.
The American cheaters like Marion Jones were caught and had to give up their medals.
The same thing should happen to the Chinese cheaters.
Ok, well, the only runners setting records in Britain these days are the ones running to emigrate to the US and Australia. So, be happy with the records being set at home in the UK. And when the last Brit leaves, keep the light on for the Pakistani’s who have taken over your country...dork!
UK, get back to us when someone is cheating in an event you guys can actually compete in.
After those athletes were found to have cheated,
a) we didn’t keep cheering or celebrating them
b) they lost their medals and their records
c) some faced legal consequences for their actions.
So UK b!tch, go take the broomstick out of your keister and sod off.

You could always mention something about no left turns there. Never figured out why they are so hysterically scared of them (especially since they see their politicians taking them all the time).

I don't begrudge the Chinese their medals, though. Over the last four years, Chinese taxpayers spent about $100m a gold medal. That's on top of the $60b they spent on infrastructure and stadiums, a lot of which will simply become white elephants. There's nothing so satisfying as watching your adversary waste scarce resources pursuing something that is ultimately worthless, except as entertainment.
Note that we improved our medal haul from 2004. Now, I don't really care about medal hauls, but for those who do, note that the Soviets and their satellite states wasted huge amounts on beating the West - with both the Soviet Union and East Germany beating the US time and again. None of it meant anything outside of sporting events. The best thing about the privately-funded US team is that it cost American taxpayers not one red cent.
