The sun has been devoid of spots for almost 8 months. Solar flux has been hanging around 67. That's consistent with observations during the last "little ice age" and Maunder minimum. It should be an interesting winter.

Yeah, I've been looking at that for years. saw it peak, and now I see it ultra low and stable. We know so little real definitive data about these sun cycles and we work mostly with generalizations but are learning a lot more as we speak.

One day we should be much better at predicting space weather and therefore more convincing to the idiots that inhabit the left and some on the right.

I just drove back to Texas from the Ozarks this morning. And it is unseasonaly cool there and here, more like late October than the end of August. Even the plants and critters are reacting to the weather. ‘Snow on the mountain’ is blooming early and the walking sticks are out and about early. It’s just my observation but others were talking about it too.
