That sums it up quite well. It should tell you something.
Except that they’re not. I’ve been to the Castro once, maybe twice, mainly because they have some really nice shops there. On a typical day, it’s no different than walking down the street of your own neighborhood. People out running errands, walking their dogs, going to the corner restaurant. There’s no blatant displays of homosexuality unless you count two guys or girls holding hands while window-shopping. The only time it becomes apparent you’re in Gay Mecca is during Pride Weekend. And even then it’s involving activities and parties that everyone can participate in - straight and gay, man and woman, adult and child.
I’m a straight female with no intentions of being swung over to the other side. But I don’t see why everyone is assuming that The Castro is one big freak show where any homosexual residing there is out in the street putting on a kinky sex show for their buddies. You know what they say about assuming.
