If McCain picks a pro-abort veep, the danger is not limited to disgruntled conservatives staying home in November.

There could very possibly be a conservative revolt at the convention over the pick. Not saying McCain’s guy wouldn’t get in, but it could be messy ... and you know a revolt of any size would dominate the headlines.

My brother is a convention delegate, and he is a pretty loyal party guy as well as a solid social conservative. He was reminding us the other day (with tongue only slightly in cheek) that the delegates, not McCain, actually select the veep.

I really don’t think he would vote for a pro-choice guy ... and if he wouldn’t, believe me, there are lots more that wouldn’t.

I know it isn’t saying much, but there may be a reason why Romney (I know, most don’t like him either, just talking about strategy), didn’t officially drop out, he only suspended his campaign. His delegates are officially still pledged to him.
