2-party system: No choice but evil [Alan Keyes essay; Dobson's Choice]
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | 8-11-2008 | Alan Keyes

Preface

I remember reading somewhere that societies in decline reach a point where they are so corrupt that attempted remedies only reveal and further aggravate the causes of their demise. Sometimes I'm tempted to believe that the American Republic has passed well beyond this point, that our liberty is gone and cannot be recovered. The essay that follows is evidence that I have not yet succumbed to this temptation.

I have no doubt, however, that we are in the midst of the feverish crisis that marks either the recovery of the Republic, or its dissolution. The great principles of right and justice that gave rise to our constitutional system of democratic self-government are everywhere discarded or under assault. Indeed, things are so far advanced that the issues most involved with the destruction of these principles (such as so called "marriage" for homosexuals) are being debated and decided with no reference at all to their implications for the moral premises of liberty.

We live in revolutionary times, by which I mean times when a form of government will either be restored or overthrown...

Here's what I posted to you, and you took it the wrong way for some strange reason, possibly thinking it was directed at you.

"This really brings out and shows those who have severe dysfunctional mental thinking. "I'll blow my brains out now (Obama) because the operation could fail (McCain) and I might die."

I am mocking those who will enable Obama to become POTUS (certain death) because they are afraid that McCain MIGHT fail them in some area(s) such as right-to-life, WOT, etc. We agree so stop being stupud!

No need to push. It's moving down the track on it's own momentum and McCain can't and won't stop it because he is incapable of doing so.

The public will get the government it wants and deserves. I simply don't and won't stand in the way. Not this time.

Dr. Keyes misses one crucial point. By refusing to choose the “lesser of two evils” you permit the greater of two evils.

I really cannot stand McCain but it will be him or Obama. There is no other possibility of a winner.

The system is clearly badly broken. But the time to fix it is not during election season but way before primary time to prevent RINOs from being able to foist McCain upon us. We Conservatives need to redouble our efforts and take control of the GOP back from the RINOs.

I’m voting for McCain because he at least offers realistic hope. I’m also voting for McCain because if Obama wins he will try to destroy what hope we have left.

I highly recommend two resources that explain why, from a Catholic perspective, you can (and even should) vote for McCain.

I won’t compromise.

God bless you, Guenevere.

If we don't hold the line on behalf of America's principles, no one will.

And if no one will, the republic will be lost. It's a certainty.

A friend reminded me this morning that it only takes one tiny pinpoint of light leaking through to begin to brighten a previously pitch-black room.

As long as we're here, the LORD has called us to be a light in this dark world.

And a shining city set on a hill cannot be hid. That's what we Americans are when we do the right thing and shine our lights collectively for the world to see.

I pray an equal blessing on all the others here who courageously refuse to compromise the truth.

Wow. Can you direct me to the scripture that allows, much less mandates, giving any support whatsoever to evil?

How about ““Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s”?

Perhaps you think they were Godly men in the time of Jesus.

Jesus was making the case that it all belongs to God. Everything. I guess you missed that, and can’t understand the further context it provides for this very conversation.

Follow the truth, do what’s right, and the money, security, and everything else will take care of itself.

Follow the lie, do wrong, shill for evil, and nothing on earth will protect your money or your security.

Without God, we’re uncovered and unprotected.

James Dobson: Moral Relativist.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Oh man, that's even funnier than the idea of Paris Hilton having an energy policy. Thanks for the laugh.

Dr. Keyes has often discussed -- in his public town-hall-style telephone conference calls this year -- the question of whether the old adage about "making the perfect the enemy of the good" applies to his decision to leave the GOP. First off, he assures folks that he does not claim to be perfect. But he does claim to love God, and that a major aspect of this deep and abiding love is an equally deep and abiding desire to do God's will. McCain's pro-choice public policy position on abortion and his failure to see marriage as a natural institution that government cannot justly redefine are examples of why his nomination represents a stark departure of the GOP from the striving to do God's will. I'm going to print out copies of this excellent essay and drop it off with my neighbors. Keyes can win this election -- with God changing one voter's mind at a time. Might you, my fellow Freepers, have a role in this too?

Proverbs 9: 7-19

"Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult;
whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.

8 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you;
rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

9 Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still;
teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

You’re equating your self-perceived need to elect an evil opponent of moral policy in this country with the need to lie to preserve human life?

I’m astounded at such mindless sophistry.

By the way, in the “Hall of Faith” in the Book of Hebrews, a prostitute, Rahab, is praised as an exemplar of that faith. What was her claim to fame? She lied to preserve the lives of the Israelite spies.

Stand for what? Barack Obama answering the White House phone at 3am when Russia invades Ukraine next year? That’s something to take a stand for!

Get over it folks, there are only TWO choices this year. Vote for good or evil. It is your choice. It really is that simple.

This time there is no choice. We have two Democrats running. Both candidates push for amnesty - a sell-out of this country. The biggest danger to this country comes from our open borders. The planes on 9/11 did not take off from Iraq but from American soil.

It is my choice, and the two Democrats you present as the only two choices simply aren’t the only choices.

So, you’re just factually incorrect.
