RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Ignoring Alfred E. Neuman's mantra of "What, me worry?," Circuit City Stores Inc. temporarily banished the irreverent MAD Magazine from its store's shelves for poking fun at the consumer electronics retailer.

But the Richmond-based company said Monday "some overly sensitive souls at our corporate headquarters" had the August issue removed from the 40 Circuit City stores that sell magazines after seeing the four-page spoof of "Sucker City."

I didn't even know that MAD was still around.

I actually didn't realize Circuit City was still around, but then, judging from their stock's recent performance, it doesn't seem like I'm the only one.

Maybe their new found sense of humor will help a bit. I might even find one and buy a copy of mad there. lol

People need to go to the MAD website and see the Sucker City ad. It is hilarious!

As far as I'm concerned, CC is no longer on my list of places to go for electronics. I just went to a local store last week looking for a CD player...NOTHING! There selection is crap, and I don't see the point of going there anymore. I'm not the only one....every time I drive by, the parking lot is almost empty. I don't see them making it past the end of this year.

The state of retail overall is pretty bad. Most savvy consumers do their purchasing online these days. About the only things I get up and go to the store for these days is food and clothing. Everything else is a mouse-click away and generally much cheaper (even when shipping is taken into account). I’d buy my clothing online too but I hate the hassle of having to return it if it doesn’t fit right.
