“If Sen. McCain tapped Rep. Cantor as his vice president, Rep. Cantor would be the first sitting U.S. House Republican to catapult to a national ticket since Barry Goldwater tapped New York Republican Rep. William “Bill” Miller in 1964.”
As I have said many time this shaping up as 1964 all over again. Remind again how many states did Goldwater win in 1964? And what damage was Johnson able to inflict on the country after being elected in a landslide?
Goldwater’s problems were far deeper than his VP choice.
Both men know they'd have to push most of their conservative principles aside to run on the McCain ticket and do not wish to do so. I don't believe either of them want to be on the RINO bandwagon.
I really like this guy. I think with about 4 years of OJT he would be one hell of a President...
“He is VERY strong on gun rights”
Good - important issue to me and a litmus test on strict construtionalism for the Constitution.
Goldwater’s problems were the herd of RINOS like ROckefeller, Keating, Javits, and others who gored him in the back because they didn’t want a conservative in the White House.
I know because I was there at the time.
The only reason I haven’t given him an A+ on guns is because he hasn’t sponsored and pushed legislation to allow “Alaska-style” carry throughout the U.S. (i.e. open or concealed with NO permit needed, for all law-abiding adult citizens).
Of course, when I am being “reasonable” about the issue, I can see why that would be politically dangerous even for a very conservative republican.
LOL! He look like every guy I grew up with!
Ask and you shall get.

That and they might not think McCain can win and don't want to get labeled on a loser ticket.
Much appreciated. Thanks.
No, Eric Cantor is different, and represents a district further South in Virignia. Eric Cantor is solid as a rock.
I have no problem with that - but I guess we still have work to do to convince everyone else its o.k.
They still believe that gun laws disarm crooks or the guy next door to them like you and me can drive a 2,000 lb vehicle at 80 mph but can’t be trusted with a little pistol.
Cantor is a-ok-he gets a high rating from the ACU and the NRA.He has proposed throwing the UN out of the US and getting the US out of the UN.He is rated about a 0 by the ACLU.And he’s Jewish-amazing to find one in Congress who isn’t a leftist rump swab. The closest other one is Norm Coleman, and he is not as good as Cantor.I think he’s the only Jewish politician I’d vote for-and I am one so it’s not about prejudice folks.
So are McCain’s.
