It is no contest... the bombs prevented the death of 1 million American soldiers from fanatical Japanese who had NO PROBLEM killing thousands of Chinese, Filipinos, and the Americans at Pearl Harbor.

The UN has a permanent and very prominent display regarding the “horror” of the “only time” nuclear weapons have been used by one nation against the other. It is also a major feature of their tour.

Business as usual for the ongoing, international anti-American enterprise.

i understand the need for the japanese people to solemnly remember hiroshima and nagasaki. that said, Americans should celebrate the day. in fact, we should roast a pig and celebrate one of the two days that saved the lives of c. 1 million American troops.

p.s. to borrow a quote from the monty python team (directed at the moonbats in cali.) "i fart in your general direction."

smoke 'em if you have too!

In honor of Hiroshima day, here is an excerpt from my uncle's book, when he was imprisoned in a jap POW camp:

“The work got intolerable in the mine. We were on limited rations and many of the men felt they were going to die in the mine because the work was too hard and they didn't have enough vitamins or energy. They were too run down. It was just a matter of time before we'd die working down there.”

“Many of the men began making plans to break their arms and legs. If you could break an arm or have somebody break it for you, then you could get a month or so topside where you had a chance to get by on the rations and have light duty.... I had a friend named Mason and he decided to break his leg. He got a guy to help him and they were going to use a railroad iron to break the leg. They were beating on his leg with this railroad iron and it wouldn't break. Mason was talking to me afterwards and said, “Hamilton, whatever you do, don't try to break your leg.”

Fortunately for my uncle, before he died in the mines they dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, and ended the war. He told me without the bomb, he would definitely have died, along with many others.

I have no patience with people who whine about Hiroshima. There would have been hundreds of thousands more people killed without the bomb.

In June, 2001 the Smithsonian Institute had a special exhibit about the Enola Gaye. A PhD candidate for George Washington Univ was telling us tourists about the horrible atrocity the USA commited. I stopped her to ask some questions. You see, my father went into Normandy 2 days after D-Day. After the Nazis surrendered, he spent 38 days on a ship going through Panama to Okinawa. They were amassing forces there for a humongous invasion of Japan. I asked her if she knew how many projected Japanese would die? She did not. I told her (over 1 million), then asked how many projected Alliued forces would die? She did not. I told her (approx 500,000, the bombings seemed to pale in comparison), then I asked how the USA got into the war. She knew the answer, Pearl Harbor. So I asked her who attacked whom, then followed as to why she thought it would be better for far more Japanese to die, plus Allies, when the Japanese started it all with a treacherous suprise attack - even while their ambassadors were in Washington negotiating a treaty. Then I stated, “If the bombs had not been dropped, you wouldn’t be here telling us about it - and, because my father would likely have died - I wouldn’t either.”

I live in Hollywood and I didn’t even know there’s such a protest. It must be one of those “too small a blip” in the protest calendar.

Well, since they are going to do it, we need to be the ones to remind them that it was a DEMOCRAT who dropped the bomb.

A DEMOCRAT caused the worst horror the world has ever seen.

DON’T VOTE DEMOCRAT-—THEY DROPPED THE BOMBS

DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS + DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT= TOTAL DESTRUCTION!

I was just there in June. I get the feeling lots of moonbats think there is just a big still-smoking hole in the ground where a city was.

You forgot to add a photo of a young girl in the forefront pulling 10 leaves off of a flower — one at a time — counting down until a nuclear warhead detonates in the background. :-) / sarc.

It also saved the lives of Japanese civilians elsewhere in the country.

From the movie “Crimson Tide”: (following a discussion about the merits (or not) about dropping the bombs)

RAMSEY: Did you think it was a mistake, Mr. Hunter?

HUNTER: Sir?

RAMSEY: Did you think it was a mistake, dropping the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

HUNTER: Well, if I thought that, sir, I wouldn’t be here.

RAMSEY: Interesting, the way you put that.

HUNTER: How’d I put it, sir?

RAMSEY: (pause) Very carefully. (other men chuckle). You qualify your remarks. Someone asks me if we should have dropped the bomb, a simple “Yes. By all means, Sir. Drop that f-—er. Twice!”

The thing is ? this would be the same argument from the left if the Soviet Union had the bomb and bombed Hitler and Germany and they would be celebrating it every year in honor of communism... the reason they protest is not the supposed " horrible atrocity the USA committed " but, they are flat out plain anti-American.
If Hitler or Japan dropped a Atom bomb on the USA, the left would have said that we deserved it.
Liberalism is not only communism, it is a mental disorder.

To hell with these disgusting fifth columnists and their terror-loving hypocrisy. I do not believe in the moral sincerity of ANY peace hypocrite. They are all totalitarian sympathizers, using their pompous moral pronouncement to undermine freedom and promote dictatorship, terrorism, and nihilism.

I suggest we declare August 6th a national holiday of thanksgiving for peace, freedom, and victory.

“It is no contest... the bombs prevented the death of 1 million American soldiers from fanatical Japanese who had NO PROBLEM killing thousands of Chinese, Filipinos, and the Americans at Pearl Harbor.”

I can celebrate the bombing of Hiroshima.

My Dad was a Marine, injured at Okinawa and healed up, ready for the invasion of the Japanese mainland—when Truman decided wisely to save many lives, by taking a few.

It took the Shock and Awe of the first two nukes to rattle the fanatic Japs into ending their madness.

We might need to use Shock and Awe again, with the new version of fanatics. I’m deadly certain McCain has the wisdom, character, brains, patriotism to push that button, and equally sure Obama would not.

My wife and children would probably not be here today if we hadn’t dropped the bomb, but instead decided upon a land invasion.

My wife is a Japanese national who fully understands this, not because she’s my wife, but beacuse her 78 yr old Dad said exacty this.

You don't even have to go as far as the invasion to prove your point about Japanese lives saved from dropping the A bombs. B-29 fire bombing raids were killing more than both bombs put together. Had we not dropped them, these raids would have needed to be continued burning most cities Japan to ashes.
