I wish President Bush would declare victory, explain that the Iraqis are now in charge of all 18 provinces, we will be staying in a few bases (just like we are in Germany, Japan, etc...) at the request of the Iraqis in case AQ shows up again, and have a ticker tape parade down the canyon of heroes. Let the American people feel good about the war.
The problem with this is that if he did it Iraqi’s would die. Somebody over there would stage a dramatic high casualty attack to prove him wrong and stoke fear here. Provoke Move On types etc.
