That's true, but the utter absorption of English national identity into a "British" identity is a particular peeve of mine. The Scots are Scots, the Welsh are Welsh, and the English are British.
The Union has completely destroyed English national identity in a way that it has not Welsh or Scots (or even Cornish). The absence of an independent English nation has deprived the Anglo-Saxon diaspora of an ancestral motherland and led them to embrace bizarre racialist ideologies as a substitute.
I say independence for England! (And yes, I am well aware that it was the English who were the catalyst for the Union in the first place; perhaps that's why they alone have been re-branded as "British").
