We buy local, organic food not because of the environmental issues. It’s just fresher and it tastes better than mass-produced food that has spent days in transit.

And as transportation costs increase, the price difference is going to shrink.

I buy locally because it lasts more than a day. I recently bought a fresh head of lettuce and ate some of it 7 days after I bought it. It was still crisp.

When I buy produce at the store, I figure I need to eat it within 48 hours.

local tastes the best. I can’t even eat the strawberries anymore except locally in season.
