I assure you.. he is no Baptist!! He may use that title but he is not one of us!
That's what the Democrats around here say about him. Long and the short of it, Phelps and his mob are so loathsome that I won't hang them around anyones neck. They are an embarassment to any organization they claim association with.
I’m not a Baptist either, but it’s unfortunate that your particular denomination has its name associated with this kind of thing. I think most don’t really place any meaning on Phelps identifying himself as “Baptist”. I hear much from this group claiming to be able to “pass judgement” on others regarding eternal damnation. No person is capable of doing that and I personally wouldn’t even want to be capable of it.
