Having no big animus against Romney, I think he is absolutely the wrong choice for VP, the wrong choice beside McCain for the general election. To conservative Democrats and Independents he will be a manicured McCain and will not add any new dimension to a McCain presidency from their perspective. McCain needs to tap Bobby Jindahl. His age, his background, his defeat of the Dims IN LOUISIANA for the governorship offers many media-excitable modes with which to activate a new “surge” for McCain.
If McCain were to pick Jindahl, he’d be succeeded by Mitch Landrieu. At this point I’d prefer he stay in LA .. he will be on a national ticket before long at all. Let’s see what he can do in LA to clean up that’s state’s corrupt politics. IF anyone can do that, it’d be Jindahl
“McCain needs to tap Bobby Jindahl. “
Nope. Save him for later. You can have a guy that inexperience d (he’s been in Gov office only 6 months!) while making the case of how inexperienced the Obama guy is.
Jindahl will be a great P or VP in 2012 or 2016 or so.
“I think he is absolutely the wrong choice for VP”
I think Romney is a big asset mainly because he is a very articulate and able point man on economic issues, which is issue #1 in the election, now that we have effectively Won in Iraq.
McCain can win on national security issues easily, but Obama is winning on economic concerns. McCain needs to turn it around and Romney can help him do that.
I too would prefer a true-blue conservative Veep, but Romney will be an awesome organizer and manager inside the white house, and should he ever get to the presidency himself will be more conservative as President than Bush 41 or 43 were.
