That is the question. Watching her interviewed for her bio, I don’t think she’s stupid. However, I think her world view makes her believe that government is truly the salvation of the people and of course she has bought into hollywood’s version of truth.
BTW my son made an interesting comment when I asked why so many in hollywood toe that line and he said that he thought it was because people will often even verbally agree with something they don’t believe at all because of the desire to fit in. It made me think of something Whoopie said, that even growing up in school she just never felt like she fit it. So, perhaps this really is mostly about the fact that her activism in behalf of leftist causes makes her fit into her world (the entertainment industry). I think there may be something to that. And of course, the longer you espouse your “beliefs” the more difficult it becomes to change them. Once you’re married to them, divorce is painful and difficult.

I had a revelation the other day on why the Hollywood is so left leaning. Heck, some are left sideways. But anyway, they are filthy rich. Like as rich as say, George W. Bush. I also got to thinking, why is it ok for Susan Surandon to be rich, but if the Bush’s are rich, it’s a bad thing? And they mask their wealth by caring about the poor guy. No, they don’t actually do anything about it, maybe attend a charity with some cavier and champagne and feel good about doing something about it. Or have a charity as an excuse to have a party, but not really give any of their money to the ‘disadvantaged’. So by speaking out about all the other bad rich people, they deflect how much money they have.
Just a thought.
