So, what is the God you believe in like? And, without impugning you personally (for I do not know you) how does one who believes as you do (My belief in God comes from self-evidence) know for sure that it is God who is the conclusion of your “evidence” or if, in fact, one is not self-deceived (might it be the Devil, or some other force that works in opposition to your God that you are actually believing in?)
You position seems to be, and correct me if I’m wrong, but that one cannot know the character and nature of God. Does this not, in fact, limit God in His ability/willingness to be self-revealing? And, in so doing, are you not suggesting something that can be “known” about God (that one cannot know Him)?
I’ve always thought so. And He’s devising a way for us to come back to Him because He knows we will stray from Him especially when things are ‘good.’
I do not know, as I’ve never met Him.
When it comes to God, the super-natural and the unknown, I am not sure of or know anything, I merely have a belief. Since God created all, including the devil, then I don’t see why it would be the devil deceiving me into believing in God. Besides, what would it matter...after all, everything that happens is known to God before it happens, isn’t it? It would just be part of what God’s plan is for me.
Why do you feel that God needs to be self-revealing?
I certainly do not need any form of revelation to believe in God, so why would God need it?
If He knows we are going to stray, I would assume that’s all part of His plan. Perhaps we only just think/believe we are straying?
I doubt it was part of his plan. He just knew our human and sinful nature and He gave us a way out, Jesus Christ. But this world is presently satan’s until the Lord returns. It’s our choice...good or evil.
As you know, I believe that since God created all, including satan, that we do not really have a sinful nature, it’s just the way God made us. I believe the concept of sin and evil, are man-made.
God was there. Don’t worry. Haven’t you wondered about why Iowa?
Think back to the very beginning of the primary election cycle................and who Iowa surprisingly backed.
God is not dumb or absent in my way of thinking.
(But I doubt that many Iowans have figured that out.)
Well, we ARE born with a sin nature, but I can’t and won’t try to convince you of that, stuartcr.
OK, thanks, although I don’t know why you would want to convince me. Maybe after we die, there will a freeper forum gathering place, and we can all compare notes...that is if we’re all in the same place.
