It is shocking the level of ignorance on this issue in some quarters still after these many years. They don’t understand that parental (and indeed, individual) rights have a different meaning in a totalitarian regime. “Rights” do not exist.
It was a shameful episode and the MSM played their part to maintain and foster that ignorance. My, what theater it was the father’s trip and performance under the gun.
