The presentation was appropriate if they noted that the founder of the religion was a serial adulterer, gigolo turned pedophile, thief, torturer and murderer as part of the angle about "famous Muslims."
If students also got the lowdown on ritual female genital mutilation, honor killing, polygamy, the fact that women are regarded as 1/2 a man for legal purposes, corporal punishment under Sharia Law, the fact that the only places on Earth where slavery still rears its ugly head are the Islamic countries, that death is the penalty for "freedom" of religion, and that Christians and Hindus are routinely beaten or murdered for perceived injustices that may have been visited thousands of miles or hundreds of years distant, that would have been a good educational effort, too.
I'm guessing though, that they just got a nice treatment of Muslim "fashion" -- well, OK, that alone is enough to get the next generation of American women ready for war...
If it had been an accurate view of Islam, rather than a sanitized view of Islam, nobody including me would have objected.
