By the time she was found, her body had become stiff with rigor mortus.
(Charleston, West Virginia)—According to the AP report, West Virginia resident, Val Thomas' heart stopped last Saturday morning, and by the time she was found, her body had become stiff with rigor mortus. (Photo: AP)
Paramedics were able to revive her, but only after an estimated 15 minutes without oxygen or a pulse—she was rushed to an area hospital. During procedures to lower her body temperature, Val's heart stopped two more times.
The Thomas family was told by doctors that Val had only a 10 percent chance of survival. She went 17 ½ hours with no brain waves, while waiting for word on an organ donor recipient. The family made the decision to take her off life support.
Daniel Pence, Val's nephew said, "[I prayed] to God, ‘Just show me something, I know there's something here,' but I didn't see it."
Some time after the life support tubes were removed from Val, she suddenly awoke. Doctors say, although her heart stopped three times, Val does not have any heart blockages. She was taken to Cleveland Hospital for further evaluation, but they could find nothing wrong with her—they are calling it a "medical miracle."
"I feel very blessed, I know God has something in store for me," says Val.
One fact that has not been mentioned before in other media reports is that a relative [niece-in-law] of Val, named Darla, had been prayed for by an attendee of the Lakeland Healing meetings in Florida. As this person prayed over Val's relative, she told her that there would be "healing, revival . . . and restoration in her family." At the time, the relative of Val Thomas did not know what she meant by that, however, now she is praising God for her Aunt Val's resurrection.
Says Darla, "Jesus stepped in when man stepped away—when doctors could do no more—Jesus did the rest."

Who, Jesus?
If you're talking about some minister or preacher, my previous statement stands. We all have flaws, especially me. I also hav a very questionable past, of which I've been forgiven.
Reminds me of what a wise man once said: "I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER."
~ G. Marx
Cool. I’m not your typical church-going Christian, so please freepmail me some info, I’d love to hear your story.
For the record, I’m a home-church guy. We meet outside the typical churchianity system, we believe that all believers are anointed, that we can all minister the immediate presence of God to anyone and everyone, and that any separation of minister and laity is false doctrine. So hit me up! thanks.
The sources are all linked. Take your problems up with them, and the medical staff who provided the information.
If you read all the source stories, especially the ABC one, there seems to be more detail about the specific timeline of events. Maybe that will help.

I agree.
This sounds more like some sort of seizure -- possibly brought on by a high body temperature (fever). The muscular spasm rigidity was probably mistaken for and other vital signs may well have also been suppressed by the affliction.
IMHO, the claim of "death" is totally incompatible with continuing (aggravated, actually) metabolism -- i.e. elevated body temperature.
Good grief! Haven't those folks watched the ME on CSI measure the drop in body (liver) temperature to obtain an estimate of the time elapsed since death..? ;-} Dead bodies don't heat up -- they cool off!
As much as I would appreciate seeing or reading of a miracle, In this case, the only miracle I see is an unusual recovery -- not "resurrection" -- from a death that never occurred.
Sorry! Bad HTML + lousy proofreading of my preview... :-(
The story didn’t say she was overheated, it said they tried to cool her body to stimulate a response from the brain.
“Doctors tried everything to save Thomas’ life, even inducing hypothermia in an attempt to lower her body temperature and stimulate the brain.”
That’s from the ABC News link. You’re making assumptions without reading the info.
But look at the results(FRUIT) The Name of Jesus is being given as the reason(and His name is being lifted up). What more do you want?
I agree!!! To many people are jumping on this outpouring in Lakeland, passing judgment way to fast. There's to much fear, if anything even looks like it's different than the person believes. I found out the hard way that being presumptuous is dangerous and foolish. And I have yet to see a church that is completely biblical. Most are bloated with man made traditions and fallacies. Healing was for than not now, there isn't any such thing as demons, some even deny the power of the Holy Spirit and existence of hell.
This is what I have to say to the heretic hunters. Matthew 7:3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but don't notice the log in your own eye? And Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE.
If this is a move of God, nothing will stop it. If it isn't, it'll stop soon enough.
False prophets can not heal, that is not biblical at all. satan can't heal, just like satan can't cast out satan.
Be cautious but, not fearful. There is a difference between discernment and criticism. Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE.
We serve a Supernatural God, it amazes me that people think that what God does, will look like what we are use to seeing in the natural. Sometimes it just plain isn't going to make any sense at all. Like building an Ark in the middle of a desert. Discern by the fruit.
Love it!!!!
I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on TV and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express late night. That said, I believe the medical reason to lower a patient’s normal temperature is to prevent or mitigate brain and organ damage. I don’t believe they were trying to break a fever.
..but I sense you believe this guy is the real deal?...am I correct.
I am not of that opinion.
Gamaliel said the same thing about the disciples in Acts. Good word.
Always fun to see it happen.
Why do you think he is not the real deal? Just asking not judging.
