Girl gangs are a growing crime phenomenon in New Zealand, too. I have seen them in groups of twenty or more: not one of them would have been over 17, and they are thoroughly nasty pieces of work. Well-armed.

Poverty. ethnicity and social class have little or nothing to do with whether they gang up.

“Feral” is a perfect way to describe them. If they choose to attack you, you shall be swamped en-masse. They seem to be quite fearless because the Law won’t touch them.

In many ways, Society has built-in immunity for them: if someone is silly enough to defend themselves against them, and if one of them gets hurt, they can revert to type. Then it is the Victim who now needs to explain to the Police and the Courts why he/she “assaulted” at 14 year old little girl and caused her injuries.

They are as close to “Untouchable” as is possible to get. And they know it.

How does Society now fix this? Lord Knows.

Just awful, I'm so very sorry to hear it.

How does Society now fix this?

From the article:

Becki, 16, lives with her mother - her father has long since gone - in the area.

(edit)

My mum works all the time [in a supermarket] so I hardly ever see her and there is no one at home, so I don't feel I have anyone looking after me really.

I'd say that a big part of the solution is a return to traditional Conservative values and the nuclear family.

Of course it's far easier to say that than  to implement it...decades of cancerous corruption by the Left has done immense, perhaps irreparable damage.

Nuclear family

Why? Isn't the purpose of law enforcement to protect society? When the law fails, vigilante's take matters into their own hands, doing things to criminals (and suspected crimials) that the law wouldn't allow under any circumstances. By the law enforcers refusing to do their job - you are going to find individuals to decide to take matters into their own hands. People will be tortured, killed and their bodies hung for display. Innocents, who 'look' guilty will face the same justice as the thug. Vigilante's want only one thing. Punishment, retribution and putting the fear of reprisals into those who prey upon them.

It would appear that this is exactly what the law enforcement bodies want. If history is any guide, having a badge will not exempt you from hanging from a tree.
