An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).
Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.
When I said that's horrible I was referring to the picture you posted not people yelling at the rescue workers. Frankly, in their grief, I think the parents should be excused. The rescue workers are the only ones they had to yell at.
And yes, it is horrible the 10 year old school collapsed while older buildings remained standing. Terrible tragedy.

I see you were able to figure it out before I posted a response. So disregard my explanation. :)
Probably the first shake was the biggest. Afterquakes are usually smaller and gradually die out in a couple weeks. Other countries have offered whatever aid is needed, although China has plenty of resources if transportation is possible.
got to get some sleep, see you guys tomorrow, god bless everyone

And shovels and other equipment for survivors to help dig people out.
Thanks for your informative posts Dav. (and for the blessings, same to you)
Heartbreaking!
It would be gratifying to all concerned to see the USA and China thaw the tension between our countries despite this tragedy being the catalyst.
Many thanks for your information and pics. Prayers to you and your countrymen for recovery.
