All the other latch-key kids will be jealous of the attention and give it a try themselves.

Fromm the local coverage, the boy just "feels" like a girl, and was more comfortable wearing girl clothes, and his parents catered to that. Being Main Line liberal wanksters, they decided that everyone should cater to their little snowflake, and made a big deal of it with the school. Because the school (anded most education admnistration, in general)is run by liberal wanksters, they decided to make an even bigger deal of it, to promote their liberal agenda and tout that they "embrace diversity."
Basically, it's an exercise in diversity and tolerance peckerwaving, writ large.
AFAIK, they're not planning on actual hormone therapy or gender reassignment surgery...yet. It's just one more step in forcing acceptance of such behavior in schools and in public.

It's really not ridiculous. I'm almost 40 and to this day my earliest memory was thinking I was a girl. That was in kindergarten. When I hit puberty the problem came on so hard I dived into suicidal depression: I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit it but I almost died from slicing my wrists: I was in a private school and was apparently found in the shower by my roommate who'd decided to cut his afternoon classes. I don't recall anything other than waking up in the hospital to a doctor who was sewing up my arms and all in my face about it.
At the time, my father was a head psychologist with Focus On The Family (a terrific group of people, by the way) and he was able to help walk me through the problem. God rest his soul, I don't know what would have happened without his guidence.
Kids who have this problem have to be dealt with almost exactly the opposite of how this kid's being dealt with.

My apologies, you are correct.
Children's Hospital Boston does have a clinic which manages gender assignment. Although most of the patients are intersex persons (this is a real, physical diagnosis which requires surgery and active choice of a gender), they also have a program for "transgendered children".

So in this circumstance, more than anything else, I would suggest a lot of sympathy and consideration before taking sides. If the child is utterly female psychologically, it may be in their best interest to receive gender modification. But this is an intensely difficult decision. Nicely put, and a welcome change from the posters here who have all the answers but disdain the question.

Your father sounds as though he was a very good man as well as a loving father. Thanks for your personal insight into this subject. I’m glad that things worked out for you.

Why isn’t this doctor being arrested? I’m pretty sure sex changes for minors are illegal, even in ultra-liberal Massachusetts.

I'll ask it again: What part of the everyday curriculum do you want to throw out to accommodate this little experiment: math? science? history? English?

Deuteronomy 22:5 tells us that God despises cross-dressing. So this issue has the overtones of being a pagan-mentality attack on the image of God (Genesis 1:27), in my opinion.
Another disturbing aspect of this situation concerns Mark 7:1-23, particularly verses 10-13. In this passage, Jesus reprimands the Pharisees, among other things, for essentially trying to drive a wedge between parents and their children, essentially nullifying the 5th Commandment, to honor your father and mother.

"Deuteronomy 22:5 tells us that God despises cross-dressing."
Guess he shouldn't have made crossdressers, then.

What part of the everyday curriculum do you want to throw out to accommodate this little experiment: math? science? history? English? Wot, you think there's no fat in the school day? How about the part you'd be willing to throw out to accommodate a course in patriotism? Let the school authorities figure it out, schedules are their job.

Guess he shouldn't have made cross dressers, then...and murderers, rapists, and thieves. Fortunately for us, God gave us a choice! We are not robots. WE can choose our own destiny! We are all sinners.
God created us and gave us a choice of following Him or ourselves!

Wot, you think there's no fat in the school dayYes, regrettably, there probably is some "fat" in every school day. However, it should never be filled with the promotion of sexual identity politics. That's not what the third grade is for.
How about the part you'd be willing to throw out to accommodate a course in patriotism?
Patriotism is not something taught in a course. It's learned and nurtured through courses in civics and history. But apparently you have no time for civics and history (what with promoting sexual identity politics and all).
Let the school authorities figure it out, schedulues are their job.
What absolutely jaw-dropping capitulation! I'm speechless. This is a public school. We -- the tax payers -- are the final authorities. You may want to wave your white flag of surrender, but I won't.

God not only endowed man with a free will to be able to make choices, but 1 Corinthians 10:13 makes it clear that at least one of the choices in any situation is not sinful.

Because he's trying to be a "pioneer" for the issue. This is the heart of progressivism - pushing the envelope of ethics and morality in the name of science or social justice or whatever. It's placing the needs of the few over those of the many.
