Click through and you’ll find where the site converts pounds into dollars.

If you follow the links to the US distributor, it starts at $395.

Somewhere, someone’s day isn’t complete unless they’ve told another person they are wrong, but two can play your game. When shipping costs are included, you’ll discover the original amount is correct.

How is this different from the other backpacking water filters like Katadyn, MSR, MicroPur, Platypus, Miox, ...?

The specifications look about the same. The “unique features” on the website don’t look distinctive, except perhaps the chew-proof teat. And I don’t see how they avoid contaminating the drinking end of the filter ... a vital feature to check out when you are selecting a water filter.

A might pricy, too.

Something everyone should keep in mind. Neither water filters nor water purifiers deal with insecticides. If you are backpacking in a forest that is sprayed for insects, you should not drink the water. Filtering, boiling and chemical purification will not remove insecticides or other polutants.

Distillation is the only safe process for polutants.

I bought something similar for thirty dollars. Seems a little pricey to me.

Definitely!

Of course, feel free to disregard that advice and drink straight from the Hudson River, if you’d like!

The bottle weighs about 1.5 pounds and can filter one and a half pints of clean drinking water each go. Its replaceable filter can handle more than 1,500 gallons of dirty water before it has to be replaced. And since it won’t process any water once the filter has expired, it will be impossible to drink contaminated water by mistake.

Hope this guy will sell this to Sears - I've got one of their refrigerator filters - and it's crap.

Ouch! I was just trying to be helpful to show where you could buy it in the States. You might want to remove that chip off your shoulder before you poke someone’s eye out! LOL

Found the story condensed on a Brit site:

IPSWICH, England, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- An Ipswich, England, businessman has created a bottle that makes even the filthiest water drinkable in a matter of seconds.

Michael Pritchard, who unveiled his invention Thursday at the DESI defense show in London, said he hopes the $380 bottle can be used to help refugees in areas where clean drinking water is difficult to come by, The Telegraph reported Friday.

Pritchard said he sold his entire 1,000-item stock of the "Life Saver" bottles after only four hours at the show.

"I am bowled over," he said.

The bottles are attractive items to military commanders because they can distill a great amount of water before the filter needs changing and they can benefit soldiers who have long been forced to drink water treated with iodine.

Pritchard said he was inspired to create the item after watching footage of the 2004 tsunami in southeast Asia and of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

"Something had to be done. It took me a little while and some very frustrating prototypes but eventually I did it," he said.

This one is much cheaper and "only" filters to "99.99%". Good for 100 gallons with 18oz capacity.

Good for BOG or camping.

We got a POE (point of entry) water treatment system. (Rain Soft) It hooked up to the water line running to the house, it cleans and purifies all the water coming onto the house.

The water in Florida really is bad, the county where I live sent a warning out last year not to let your pets drink the tap water!!!

It will pay for itself in the long run by extending the life of ice maker, dishwasher, washing machine, pool filter, sprinkler system. I was buying a water filter for the fridge every three month @ $40.00 a pop. I should have to replace once a year now.

Plus it adds value to the house when you can actually drink the water out of the tap

Dang! Being a somewhat backward Okie, I'm having a hard time imagining how bad it would be not to be able to drink water from the “tap”. My husband was thinking we needed one just to remove the minerals that affect the taste of our water. We've never had a problem, and we've had it tested several times, with the purity of the water. That would be just a terrible inconvenience!
