“Republican John McCain says President Bush should not be held responsible”

Republicans say Juan McCain is not responsible for defending or apologizing for the President.

STFU, Juan and quit pandering to the liberal media.

It was the President’s photo-op, he’s to blame if it blows up in his face.

He started well but lost it here: ...but he should be blamed for bungling the early months of the Iraq war.

What bungling? Name another mission that accomplished so much, in so little time, with so little loss of life.

Somehow I think the only way for McCain to win is to completely throw Bush under the bus. If people perceive McCain to be running for Bush’s third term, then he will lose, regardless of who the Democrat candidate is.

Bush’s actual speech given on the deck of the Lincoln bears reading. He makes it clear that the road ahead is long and difficult probably lasting through several presidencies after his. No way did he think or say that the war was over or even near over.

Gee John, you mean bringing the fifth largest well-trained army in the world to it knees in three weeks wasn't good enough?

Geez, snotty comments like this from McCain make me really want to not vote for him. I REALLY don’t want one of the Dems to win, but he keeps saying stupid stuff and losing ground with me.

The early months of the Iraq war, as well as the Gulf war (actually the same war), are going to be studied in military colleges around the world for many centuries. Not for their blunders...but for their impressive accomplishments and minimization of loss of life.

The logistics alone will present case studies that will be required knowledge for all future military cadets.

The coordination of ground and air assaults, working with the indigenous people, working with a multinational force...these were all brilliantly executed.

By criticizing the early months of the war, McCain is going to look like a fool, sort of a George McClellan of the 21st century.

The toppling of Saddam Hussein with minimal loss of life was an impressive achievement. The president who ordered it, and the military men and women who carried it out, have much to be proud of. It is one for the history books.

The fight to keep Iraq free has been a tougher one, and again the president has done an impressive job in holding to his guns, and again the military men and women who have done the job of fighting this second war have done a remarkable job. I am very proud of them.

I'm sure McCain's banner would have been so much better:

"1 YEAR DOWN AND 99 TO GO!!"
