Anyone who doesn’t want people coming in without their permission.

It can seem a shaky foundation as the United States rushes to complete the fencing on nearly 700 miles of the border by the end of the year. That's when a new administration arrives in the White House with its own ideas about security, freedom, the 11 million 20 to 30 million illegal immigrants already here and the prospect of many more on the way.

More accurate.

“The Homeland Security Department counters that its plan is already working. And the number of people they’ve caught trying to cross illegally has gone down, meaning fewer people are taking their chances now that the barriers are in place.”

Thanks for pointing out that we — as a nation — are entitled to accept or reject whomever we choose into the country.

Oh please. Even Chertoff had to go through the courts and Congress to get the fence moving.

Anticipating these challenges, Congress gave the department the authority to bypass certain environmental laws and condemn private property. And Chertoff has taken full advantage of that power, waiving 40 laws that had delayed 528 miles of fencing. Some Democrats are challenging Chertoff's use of these waivers, saying the blanket actions are unconstitutional.

The virtual fence was an attempt to go around all the lawsuits that were holding up the completion of the fencing. AND the fence is not just chainlink, there are 9 variations that will be used for building it, including vehicle barriers in certain spots, there has to be surveying done, right-of-way roads cut across private property, supplies moved into place.

I swear some of you people think that someone snaps their fingers and things just happen.

The 700 miles of border fence mentioned in this article won’t pacify the unappeaseables...they’ll still criticize, gripe, and moan about our “open borders” no matter how many fences are built.

Just think of the progressive progress the US can make regarding urban sprawl, energy independence, and CO2 emissions if we send 20 million illegals home!

"I swear some of you people think that someone snaps their fingers and things just happen."

Most of 'em aren't thinking past "This is *my* issue, and if the fence actually gets built, I won't have an issue any longer."

So they cry and moan like little schoolgirls whenever progress on the fence is made. "700 miles of fence built?! Why, then I'll just complain that 1,700 miles haven't been built yet! See, I still have my "issue"!"

“I swear some of you people think that someone snaps their fingers and things just happen:”

Are you related to the Bushes or just on the payroll? LMAO

Bush has had SEVEN FRIGGIN’ YEARS to secure the border...

And if you think Bush has done all he can to secure the border you are dumber than dirt!

Your insults here just expose your stupidity. I will educate your ignorance.

The adminsistration has been fighting for right-of-way and access to certain mileage of private property to begin surveying for the fence. The OWNERS filed suit to have it stopped and the DHS has not been able to get access to even survey for the roads needed. Much less even start building the fence.

Now, with the help of Congress, Chertoff and the President were able to waive all the private property rights of those land owners to gain access and build the fence.

Even the Department of Homeland Security is bound by the law.

Educate yourself, before you opinionate.

oh please

they’ve been draggin’ their feet for seven years to get a damn fence built!

and IF Bush reeeeeeeeeeely wanted the border secured,
there would have been troops down there seven years ago, genius ...which is exactly what happened before WWI when the Army National Guard was on horseback chasing Poncho Villa across the border.

so take that load of manure back to Bush and tell him
“that dog won’t hunt” on FR! LMAO

“symbol of the Berlin wall. It is a tool.”

No Chertoff, you are the tool. Gosh can he be serious. A 5 year old could understand the difference between this wall and the Berlin Wall.

When the 4th Amendment on illegal seizures of property and the 7th Amendment on due process in the courts are overturned, let me know.

Other than that you might want to read a bit more about the Punative Expedition, because from what I see, you don't know what you are talking about there either.

Trying to change the subject now?

You didn't know anything about the fence problems.

You certainly don't know anything about the Punative Expedition.

Is your 'combat experience' going to change the fact you don't know what you are talking about on your initial post?

Nope, but good try.

Just as I figured.

You have no combat experience, much less combat experience in security on the border.

Run along, junior and quit bothering me.

Still trying to change the subject. Tsk,tsk.

How does any of your 'combat experience' have anything to do with your lack of knowledge on the border fence issues?

Answer: None.

Educate yourself, then learn to debate. You suck at both.
