If you’ll recall, Keyes was brought in at the last moment to fill in for primary winner Jack Ryan, who left the race in June 2004 amid controversy over sexually embarrassing allegations made by his ex-wife in divorce papers. Keyes had less than three months to wage his campaign against Obama. In light of those circumstances, not to mention the notoriously corrupt nature of Chicago politics, I think 27% was pretty good.
