He should also call Steve Irwins wife and daughter and apologize for THIS but of tasteless "fun."
Hard to tell if he's wasted on something or that's his natural expression when off-camera.

It’s not like anything that Maher was saying isn’t true on some level. Yes, the pope was a german soldier, and yes the church has had problems with pederasts in their midst.
Obviously the best humor is based in some level of fact. But in this instance, that humor crossed into poor taste. Maher is trying to work the same high intellect action that Dennis Miller works. He’s not nearly as accomplished at it as Miller and this set of jokes fell flat, with a thud.
