disgusting. You can’t even make the historical argument for adults marrying 14-16 year old girls there’s nothing that can justifies something like this. Sadly if it were here he’d be given a slap on the wrist and a few years jail time. All cultures are equal but some or more equal than others.

The article doesn’t make clear the concept of ‘bride price’. It’s a dowry of sorts, paid to the family of the bride. If the marriage ends, that money must be returned to the husband. That is why most families prefer that the husband just take another wife, up to a max. of 4.
