Former Republican Georgia Rep. Bob Barr is considering a run for president on the Libertarian Party ticket, according to FITNews.
Barr, who joined the Libertarian Party after leaving Congress in 2003, is looking to attract conservatives who are unhappy with the choice of John McCain as the expected Republican presidential nominee. McCain and Barr are at odds primarily over the role of U.S troops in Iraq, although both agree that tough interrogation methods should not be permitted.
FITNews wrote that Barr will receive the endorsement of Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul, a GOP presidential candidate who is still technically in the race but has not suggested he would throw his support to McCain. McCain and Paul, who ran on the Libertarian Party presidential ticket in 1988, also are at odds primarily over the role of U.S. troops in Iraq.
Barr, who represented Georgias 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House from 1995-2003 and served as a House manager during impeachment proceedings against former President Bill Clinton, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution last week that he identifies closely with Pauls outlook.

Mohammad Barr sold out a LONG time ago. McCain is far more conservative (and that ain’t saying much).
McCain? A CONSERVATIVE???? Hee-hee! Ha-ha!
Meanwhile the Paulians are trying to take over the state GOP parties.
It was easier to usurp control than to shore up a viable third party.
Wonder how many of these are really Ron Paul DUMMYcrat 9-11 truthers.
Barr lost me when he came into Iowa and endorsed uber-RINO Greg Ganske over a great conservative, Bill Salier, in the US Senate race six years ago.
Him going to work for the ACLU sealed the deal for good.
George Soros.
George Soros, Progressive Ins. Co.
George Soros, Progressive Ins. Co.
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.
An interesting choice it would be. McCain vs Hillary or Obama, with Nader and Barr thrown in as spoilers. Barr isn't perfect, but he is more conservative than McCain (one of the most conservative voting records in Congress - and, again, most of his deficiencies are matched or exceeded by McCain's deficiencies - six months ago, this would not be in dispute on FR, but now that McCain is the nominee, folks put on the rose-tinted RINO goggles). Barr is being wooed by the Constitution Party as well.
A pox on McCain and his RINO brand of left-wing politics (Iraq isn't enough when the rest of his BS is piled up on the other side of the scale). Earn the votes McCain - you continue the march left at your own peril. Keep hoping conservatives are willing to value Iraq with 9/10 of their chips, while the rest you serve is mush.
Soros has been busy with verified funding and long-time material support to McCain, Hillary, and Obama. Now Barr too?
Check it out. He only was involved in issues that most conservatives would agree with. I'd vote for this ticket before I would vote McCain.
So these are our choices:
Hillary Clinton
Will not waterboard a terrorist even if it would save innocent lives
Barack Obama
Will not waterboard a terrorist even if it would save innocent lives
John McCain
Will not waterboard a terrorist even if it would save innocent lives
Bob Barr
Will not waterboard a terrorist even if it would save innocent lives
UGH.
Because we shouldn't have only three sellouts to choose from. We should have four sellouts to choose from.
Oh, please!!! Where do they get their egos?
I seriously doubt he will run. Looks like someone just wants a little attention.
Bob Barr could get the ACLU and NAMBLA vote.
Buy it now !>
Is this an April Fool joke?
protest votes are absolutely worthless and vain
I don't think I could come up with two better adjectives for John McCain if I tried.
