When it comes to raising taxes, the Democrats demonstrated that they haven't lost their touch. Cantor's website is listed in the article, with tips on the website to help frustrate the implementation of this tax package.

Before adjourning for recess, House Democrats passed the largest tax-hike in American history; a rate hike that will soak an average of $3,120 from every family. In an economy reeling from a slowing housing and job market, this is a burden that American families and small business owners simply cannot afford.

Let’s be clear – this Democrat tax hike raises the tax burden of every American, particularly the middle-class. Their budget, which they voted to pass this week, includes the following tax assumptions:

* Raises the current “10 percent tax bracket” to 15 percent. This would increase the burden on all American taxpayers, especially the lowest income earners.
* Implements an across-the-board increase on marginal income tax rates.
* Reinstates the marriage penalty. Approximately 23 million married couples would be affected.
* Slashes the $1,000 per-child tax credit in half.
* Increases the tax on dividends, which often supplement the income of senior citizens relying on Social Security.
* Reinstates the death tax, which is considered the largest impediment to transferring family-owned businesses from one generation to the next.

AND TO THINK THAT THERE IS EVEN A CHANCE THAT A DEMOCRATIC MIGHT WIN THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS MIND BOGGLING!

Americans have become addicted to social programs. The Liberal/Democrat/Socialist/Communist Party has been feeding the masses for years and it is beginning to yeild great promise for them.

This country is lost and we might as well watch it slide to oblivion.

I've been preparing for that reality for some time now. I hope you have too......

These are not taxes! They are “contributions.” We all have to contribute more because we are too “selfish.” We have to do more to help those who demand government benefits — more AIDS research, pre-school so mothers can work, more money to pay teachers, to provide homosexuals with married benefits, increased social security benefits, more diversity and perversity, health care for AIDs patients, free health care for all, long term care for seasoned citizens, credit cards for the poor so they are not stigmatized by food stamps, more government subsidies for people in need, more money for the poor around the globe, money for reparations, money for planned parenthood, increased minimum wages, more money for the children, and much more!

That was my question. You would have thought if a bill of this magnitude passed, more howls of protest would have been generated.

Dems, Libs, Socialists, call them what you will have always, forever preceived Government as the source of sustenance be it as power, or as trough. They view Government as the source, the pool of money and power of existence. Socialist programs to feed the hungry, or Universal Health Care, or Seatbelt Laws, Smoking Laws, on and on they go protecting their Governments’ investment from demise to keep those tax dollars rolling in to feed their Government, and keep sufficient masses on their side to stay in power.

They are people farmers. They want to ensure we eat just what they want us to eat to stay healthy, and keep us from participating in bad habits that could effect our ability to pay the taxes, and ultimately provide for and control our health to insure our lives are maximized, because dead people pay no taxes.

...Americans have become addicted to social programs.

Because, in their minds, it’s “FREE”.

Yep and our good old boys at the GOP have enforced the FREE idea with borrowing and spending borrowing and spending
knowing all along that taxes would be increased to support the bloated government..
disgusted with both parties.

I think they are just letting the Bush tax cuts “Sunset” out...no new legislation needed.

If you’re not getting a tax cut, you’re getting a pay cut.

After watching Virginia for 10 years... all that I can say to those that are turning socialist is... you reap what you sow. Bon Apetite Virginia... It isn't "just for lovers"... marxists love it too!

Excellent question. The article only addresses the congressman's statement.

I’m going to assume Bush will veto this bill, but God help us if Hillary or Obama is our next president. I don’t see how this is going to be popular, even with Democrats.

This has nothing to do with Virginia other than the congressman being quoted is from there.
