I had Norton AntivirusEtc. on my WinXP machine. Hated it. When we switched from our dialup to ATT superfast internet, there was another antivirus that came with it. I went for it, and was very satisfied UNTIL......stupid, bloody ATT switched over to NORTON, and as part of an upgrade, we ended up with the latest version of Norton AntivirusInternetFirewallEtc. on our machine.

Before, we had what I liked to call "the guy who sits by the door and bashes bad guys on the head with a club." Our little antivirus guy did just that. Didn't bother us in our programs, wasn't a resource hog. Norton, otoh, is like a 300 lb. guy who sits at the table next to you and wants to know what you're doing ALL THE SMEGGING TIME! Updates, sneaking out onto the web to get new virus lists, all that stuff, is very annoying. Norton is a resource hotg, and I hope someone from Norton is reading this, because your product is junk.

I haven’t used antivirus in years. Never got a virus, trojan, or any other such malware.

For someone who is computer literate, stays away from Internet Explorer, and doesn’t routinely visit dangerous websites (porn, pirate sites, and the like), there is little actual risk of getting a virus.

I’m convinced that more damage and wasted time has resulted from antivirus programs than from viruses themselves.
