She sounds fairly shallow, but then so does he.
That may be part of it. But what I really think attracted him to the whole idea was (a) the fact that it was super expensive and (b) the name “Emperor’s Club.” The guy was a nutcase egomaniac, and in his tiny mind, being able to spend that much to buy a woman was a validation of how great he was.
Could be worse - - Eliot’s prostitute could have been “an aspiring rapper” instead of a “rhythm and blues singer”.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Emperor’s whores are given ratings from “3 Diamonds” to “7 Diamonds”. Kristen had to be in the “3 Diamond” range, as far as I can see.

At least, she made a good decision to come out now. Legit job offers (recording career, books, lecture circuit, etc) will start pouring in. And virginity can nowadays be restored surgically!
