Fadi al-Amour and his friends – high school seniors – spent more time last week on the street than in class.

Has sort of a "Dog bites Man" quality to it....

Mr. Abu Dhaim, a man in his mid-20s who was due to be married soon, was from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jebel Mukaber, meaning he had an Israeli-issued residency card and was free to travel and work in Israel... Up the street from Abu Dhaim's house in East Jerusalem, a group of men who would usually be at work on Israeli construction sites sat drinking coffee together for the day because they deemed the atmosphere too tense to go to work in the Jewish parts of town, due to the yeshiva shooting.

Two things. Seal the border, and leave it sealed. There should be no access to Israel overland for a generation.

Secondly, it needs to be repeated, evidently, what should be clear to anyone. There will never be an independent West Bank, and there will never be an independent Gaza. It will never happen. They are not viable, either of them. They have no markets, no source of employment of their own, they are completely dependent on welfare payments from EU, UN, US, the Saudis, smuggling, terror for hire, but they have no productive capacity.

Separate from Israel, separate from Egypt and Jordan, separate from foreign welfare payments, they have no economy of their own.

They are outlaw enclaves, ruled by outlaws.

These territories have been designed to be a cancer on Israel's hide, and that has to end. Seal the border. Access to the world for the West Bank has to be via Amman. Access to the world for Gaza has to be via Egypt, or its own sea coast.

Seal them off from Israel, and they become Jordan's problem, and Egypt's. The rules of the game have to be reversed.

Is a third intifada brewing?

What, did they have to take a break to reload again?

The only reason they are talking like this is because they think they can “win”. A win for the Pali’s is to gain a short term political advantage. They are looking for this advantage to extract “concessions” from Israel and the world. These mostly take the form of bribes.

IMHO, this says more about the sorry state of Israeli leadership than Pali intransigence. Olmert should go, get a hard nose leader in there and things will improve fast.
