Climate dissent grows hotter as chill deepens
Telegraph UK ^ | 9 March 2008 | Christopher Booker

Last week, virtually unreported in Britain, the extraordinary winter weather of 2008 elsewhere in the world continued. In the USA, there were blizzards as far south as Texas and Arkansas, while in northern states and Canada what they are calling "the winter from hell" has continued to break records going back in some cases to 1873. Meanwhile in Asia more details emerged of the catastrophe caused by the northern hemisphere's greatest snow cover since 1966.

In Afghanistan, where they have lost 300,000 cattle, the human death toll has risen above 1,500. In China, the havoc created by what its media call "the Winter Snow Disaster" has continued, not least in Tibet, where six months of snow and record low temperatures have killed 500,000 animals, leaving 3 million people on the edge of starvation.

It might have seemed timely that in New York an array of leading climatologists and other experts should have gathered for the most high-powered international conference yet to question the "consensus" on global warming. After three days of what the chairman called "the kind of free-spirited debate that is virtually absent from the global warming alarmist camp", the 500 delegates issued the Manhattan Declaration, stating that attempts by governments to reduce CO2 emissions would "markedly diminish further prosperity" while having "no appreciable impact" on the Earth's warming

The Democrats and others who choose to make climate control an issue are in for some fierce debate. Claiming some type of universal consensus is no longer going to work.

I suspect we’ll see this as a record cold March this year too. 14 degrees last night and 10 degrees expected tonight here in southern michigan. I went out and cut a hole in the ice and it’s nearly 16 inches thick.

But... but you see, it’s... yeah, it’s the global warming that caused all this cold weather!
Yeah, that’s it: global warming caused by George Bush!

It’s funny, but down here in Houston it’s been the warmest winter yet, or so it seems. We have’nt gotten within five degrees of freezing this year. We used to have a hard freeze or two every year. Now it doesn’t seem like we’ve had a true hard freeze as far back as I can remember.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This, folks, is absolutely hilarious. “Dr. John Brignell, a British engineering professor, runs a website called Number Watch. He has compiled what has to be the most complete collection of links to media stories ascribing the cause of everything under the sun to global warming. He has already posted more than six-hundred links,” to media stories blaming X, whatever it is, on global warming. I have all of these links here. They print out to three pages. I’m going to read ‘em all, all 600 links. We’re going to post this from the American Thinker today, Christopher Alleva, we’re going to link to it so you can go to this yourself, but let me just give you a head start here:

No matter the science, liberal Democrats have adopted another evil caused by evil corporations and evil Republican greed. To counter the evil faux devastation, Congress will have to send Millions to UC Berkley, Wisconsin, Madison, University of Washington and several Foundations operated by Democrat fund raisers. Perhaps Congressman William Jefferson (D) LA. can enlist the help of some of his relatives, adequately funded of course. Unless he is serving as the new Attorney General.

It all boils down to one word. the word that drives everything the libs and big government types want and live for. The word is ENVY.
Global Warming is the cover story for taking things away from those who work, destroying property rights and dumbing everyone down to the level of some recently arrived, penniless squatter.
Fortunately, Algore & Co's "solution" to our non existent problem is beginning to sink in. Even Kyoto signers can't live up to it.

It’s so darn hot down here most of the time that we really look forward to winter, and lately we wait and wait and wait. Still, even back in the mid-nineties I remember somebody saying: Houston, where winter is just pretend.

Gas will go up more, too. And thanks to lefty's animal worship and protection, the lefty-munching bear population will double again. If you don't like it, move back to the lowlands or the south. ;-)

I only wish the Republican National Committee had a sense of humor. I can just see clips of Hillary, Obama, Pelosi and Reid all demanding we increase government taxes and regulations to do something about the weather.

Then the facts as given in this article.

And the punch line, “The Democrats not only talk about the weather but promise higher taxes to change it...” Or something like that.

Ridicule using their words would be the key—it would soon be an instant discussion in every coffee shop and saloon in the country.
