When you start thinking for yourself, you see things differently. (It wasn't all W's fault!)

When you start thinking for yourself, you see things differently.

A little over a year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high.
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; [high, but not as high as the $3.29/gal regular I paid today]
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we're seen:

1) Consumer confidence drop;
2) the cost of regular gasoline over $3 a gallon;
3) Unemployment has increased is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6)1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

What will we get for out 2008 vote?

Putting it this way sure put a different perspective on things!

Perhaps I'm paranoid but is it possible the economy is being manipulated to make the pubbies look bad?

You should copy right this information, since the MSM will steal it from you and use it as their lead story for a week or more.

/utterly futile hope

I just said on another thread that all of the bad eco news should be blamed on a dim congress - who will raise taxes. Of course, the DBM will try to blame W!

No. The MSM/DBM won’t have anything to do with this. Mum’s the word.

A vast left wing conspiracy? In January of 2001, oil was at about $25.00 per barrel. Yesterday it closed at what again? No one has been manipulating the economy since January of ‘01 except President Jorge and his Saudi Mohammedan and globalist buddies and their lackeys of both parties in Congress.

Does the Bear sh&^ live in the woods. I watched the LSM start this snowball down the hill a year ago with little innuendos about signs of a weakening economy and sure as hell that little glob of lies turned into a full blown avalanche...

Well, does a bear do his business in the woods? Is the Pope a good Catholic?

Answer those questions, and you have the answer.

And what specifically, did your beloved Clinton do to keep a barrel of oil at $25.00?

Also, since you seem to think that it's within the power of the president to control the price of oil, can you explain how the president would do that?

What will we get for out 2008 vote?

Exactly what we deserve...and it will not be John McCain unless we deserve more of the same.

We will pay for our blind support for bad policies in this election. As far as who to blame for oil being 1.12 a gallon when Bush took office in 2000 to 3.29 a gallon today? I don't know...but the buck does not stop at Nacy Pelosis desk does it? Both major parties are equally corrupt.

Yea and West Texas intermediate was at 7.80 a barrel in 98, whats your point? Answer me this, how could this or any administration manipulate the price of oil and why would they want to do it?

Here's an idea, how about dropping all taxes on crude oil and gasoline.

Texas gets 4.6% from every barrel of oil produced in TX. At 108 a barrel thats 4.96
Texas gets .20 cents per gallon of gas sold. with 22 gallons of gas coming from 1 42 gallon barrel, that amounts to 4.40.
The feds get 18 cents per gallon of gas sold in TX, which amounts to 3.96 per barrel.

For every barrel of oil produced refined and resold, that amounts to 13.32 just in taxes, not counting sales taxes on other refined crude products.

Folk's it ain't BIG OIL thats getting into our pockets, it'd BIG GOVERNMENT. You really think they want to see the price come down? It's an extortion racket that would make Tony Soprano proud!!

“Whatsamatter? DU too busy?”

One of the main reasons the Republican party will lose in November is because it has become, across a broad spectrum, self delusional. NF, its easy, very, very easy to win an election against people who refuse to recognize the problems their leaders have created or exacerbated. Why do you think Gore lost in 2000 or Bush 41 in 1992 or Carter in 1980?

“Answer me this, how could this or any administration manipulate the price of oil and why would they want to do it?”

Its easy, DR. Don’t find an alternative to petroleum based fuels and keep everyone angry about not drilling in places where there isn’t enough oil to break the stranglehold people who want us dead have on the product and by extension us. Why would they want to do it? For the same reason people think its just great that our military uniforms are made in China and that we for all intents and purposes can’t function as a nation without goods made by the Red Chinese, money, DR, money.

“Yea and West Texas intermediate was at 7.80 a barrel in 98, whats your point?”

That in three years the price of a barrel of crude went up $17.00 while in seven years under Jorge it went up $81.00. Is there something about that which is confusing?
