He’s studying, eh?
Here’s hoping he’s ‘studying’ like Fidel is ‘recuperating’. ;-)

I skimmed the article and didn’t notice if it was a audio/video statement from him or a written statement from his lackeys. However, I was hoping for something more along the lines of “Sorry I haven’t been around for the past six months- I’ve been dead.”

Ah Mookie we but barely knew ye. Someone else who needs to follow Hugo to hades.
A side note, does the press ever get tired of calling every pig infested city in the ME a “holy city”. It is worse than the obligatory Brittany sightings.

It seemes to me he could make periodic appearances in Iraq and
not unduly interrupt his study. In other words, I think there is more going on such as he is ill or dead.

He said he missed his followers "too much" but that every "commander needed to be away for a while to self-worship".

How many infidels do you have to slaughter to gain the title of Ayatollah?
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Comatose? Then the Left will have no problem with declaring him “brain dead” and pulling the plug, right?

Correspondents say the honorific title of ayatollah would enhance his religious credentials, as well as providing him with enhanced authority over spiritual matters in his country and the ability to issue fatwas (legal rulings). That is about the last thing Iraq needs.
And the people won't stand for it.
This guy really needs to become metaphysically challenged.

His father thought he was a good-for-nothing. Lol.

I read in “The Persian Puzzle” that Ayatollahships are not just handed out like teaching certificates. The candidate has to have a record of substantial accomplishment and to publish and defend a demanding dissertation.
Of course Iranian Khomeni-ism is so corrupted that I’m quite sure Supreme Poobah Ayatollah Khameni could make it so.
