When I first heard this yesterday, I was hoping it might be ol’ M.F. Aideed (or however you spell that two-bit, tinhorn “warlord”’s name).

Aidid died a long time ago, of mysterious circumstances, presumably of a heart attack, but who knows?

Aideed died a long time ago.
Aideed died from gunshot wounds in August 1996 and was succeeded by his son Hussein. Osman Hassan Ali, Farahs former right-hand man, emerged as a new force but in association with Ali Mahdi.
Most likely at the hands of D-boys.

Also General Garrison died a short time after Aideed. He went to the grave still carrying the weight of the Battle of Mogadishu on his soul all - albeit some what lighter knowing that his enemy went first.
