I currently live in Pittsburgh. I was born and raised here. I refer to it as a polished turd. It looks all pretty now, but the inner operations of the city and surrounding towns make cancer and AIDS victims envious. It’s diseased.
The only thing I left that I love here (aside from friends and family) are the Pittsburgh Pirates....yes, a team that has suffered through 15 years of losing seasons is my only material love. The Steelers stole 2 of their 5 Super Bowls via steroids (yes, Dallas would have owned them)...the third stolen Super Bowl was mainly due to “The Jerome Bettis Story” (TM) ...Sorry Seattle.... and our rivers make yunzer puke look clean.
We lose 5% of our population every year....those are the smart ones! I’d go so far as advising people to move to Detroit before Pittsburgh! Hell, move to Zimbabwe before Pittsburgh!
If you are planning to retire, please, avoid Pittsburgh at all costs. I assure you that your remaining years will be miserable here. You’re better off retiring in a cess pool or Cleveland. This town is West Virginia in denial and hates new people. It is mainly due to inbreeding. This city is THE definition of living dead (ironically, Night of the Living Dead was filmed about 25 miles north in Elwood City). You have been warned.
Whoever made this list needs a Rose Kennedy lobotomy. Putting Pittsburgh on a list of places to retire demonstrates that one should not breathe.

You nailed it about Pittsburgh and Allegheny County in particular. The Rats have run their socialist programs for so long they have destroyed the place. Between government pension obligations that they cannot afford, this is the home of disability applications (the old back hurts, but watch that disabled applicant at the county municipal golf course hitting a ball 280 yards), and oddly enough road rage. If you want to get run off the road, drive the speed limit around the burgh. As for the Steelers, in their defense keep in mind that the Cowboys, Raiders, Browns, et. al. were also popping roids back then. Think Lyle Alzado as one example. Unlike MLB, the NFL cleaned up their act. MLB got Barry Bonds as a result. Clemson, SC is like Gainesville, Fl, only you have almost no crime, beautiful mountain ranges, and a nice big town nearby, Greenville, SC.
