DC Chapter of Freerepublic it was Mission Accomplished in showing support for our Armed Forces Recruiters at 13 and L Streets!
It was my pleasure and I am thankful for all the members and supporters who showed up on yesterday to support the rally. The Navy and Army Recruiters(Marines and Air Force were out on mission)were pleased to see us there as gifts and cards were given out. Several members went in and talked to the recruiters, thanking them for their service and for what they do in recruiting. I extended my personal apologizes as a DC Resident for the lack of police protection on February 15th.
One recruiter who was there that night gave me a first hand account of the protesters and the lack of a police response. He stated that the protesters entered the station and started ripping posters off the walls and were screaming "Stop the War!" He and another recruiter responded to the protesters and stopped there advance into the office(trust me he is a big guy). He stated that 10 to 15 entered the station while another 50-80 remained outside, he directed the other recruiter to get the police and held the protesters at bay. The crowd outside scrolled on the walls of the station and threw a brick thru a glass door that they thought lead to the recruiting office, but was for the office building next door! The police response was nothing less than shameful as the recruiter told me the Senior Officer seemed bitter at the Jr. Officer for professional, asking questions of the recruiters and taking and filing a report about the incident, seems he would rather keep it hush-hush!
The recruiters even came out and spoke with us for several minutes as the day was coming to an end, several residents and cab drivers gave us horn blows of support and a good time was had by all.
Way to go !! I salute you folks in the FR DC Chapter, you guy are awesome !!!!
