Gee whiz, if there were this many military people killed in Iraq, there’d be a fire storm — so why aren’t candidates up in arms about our citizens being killed here on our own roads by illegals?

This number doesn't sound correct.
There has been over 40,000 citizens killed by illegals since 9/11. Since that would include car wrecks AND murders, it seems there would be many more car deaths than murders.
Just a guess on my part, but I suspect there have been that many car deaths in Texas, Arizona, and/or California since 9/11.
The only other thing it could be is maybe you left off a zero?
