Syria has denied Iranian reports that the two countries will conduct a joint investigation into the assassination of top Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyeh, who was killed by a car bomb in the Syrian capital on Tuesday night. [Imad Mughniyeh.]

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Reza Sheik Attar announced the joint probe on Friday, according to Iran's official news agency. But an unnamed Syrian official dismissed the report as "totally baseless" and said Damascus would conduct the investigation alone, Syria's state-run news agency reported late Friday.
Hizbullah and its Iranian backers have accused Israel of killing Mughniyeh, and Hizbullah's leader Hassan Nasrallah vowed in a eulogy to the slain terrorist on Thursday that his group would retaliate against Israeli interests anywhere in the world.
Israel has denied any role in the killing, and Syria has not said who it believes was behind the blast.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki met with senior Syrian officials in Damascus on Thursday and Friday to discuss Mughniyeh's assassination. Attar said Friday that Iran and Syria agreed to the joint investigation during Mottaki's visit.
Syrians sound snippy now about their great Persian friends. hmm..
Diplomatically, Syria is seriously insulting Iran by denying Iran’s joint investigation.
Methinks Syria isn’t ready for a larger war...
Well, I first speculated it was the Saudis that did this in revenge for Hariri...
But now I have to think who could do it easier than the Iranians themselves?
Why would the Iranians kill him? He could have backstabbed them on a money deal, opium trade, even some personal insult. These group operate and think like mafias.
A below the joint probe would be less painful.
Oh, and also there is that all too convenient cell phone video taken close to the explosion. Where did it end up? BBC? Al Jazeera? Syrian TV? Any Arab station?
Nope. On an obscure Iranian Arabic language television service. Iran again.
And to those of ours out there, good hunting!
Who’s next?
Arab Syria and Persian Iran as friends was out of the ordinary to begin with. If Syria gets into a snit with Iran, that would be huge. I mean hugh ;)
9/11 Shermy.... according to info Ken Timmerman has and has discussed ....Imad escorted the muscle hijackers....across Iran.... PRIOR to the strike.
Lot’s of interesting things going on in the middle east these days. They also had 4 internet cables cut on the ocean floor.....think there’s any connection as to how they learned of Mug’s whereabouts?
