Coming off a sweep in the Potomac Primaries, John McCains campaign has a message for Mike Huckabee: Its over.
The campaign released a memo after McCain won Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia Tuesday night saying the victories make it mathematically impossible for Governor Huckabee to secure the Republican nomination for president.

Because, we still have a chance, if you want to give up and have McCain fine, but don’t stop us from doing so, why is everyone so hot on stopping the American process, Let Huckabee run, he could score some major wins yet and show the RNC just how unlikely McCain is to be the president, I’m telling you this is going to be a major, major defeat for the RNC, I’m pulling a straght Democratic ticket right down the line, federal and local this election if McCain is the nominee and there are alot like me, the rest will just stay home, we’re talking a shocking defeat here for the RNC and I for one will be glad.
If for nothing else I hope Huck stays in just to give mccain the needle.
I wouldn’t vote for him if he won, but I love him being a pain in Mccain’s ass.
Even if Huckabee can’t get the 1,191 delegates before the convention, that doesn’t entitle McCain to get them and cheat the rest of the states from having a voice in the matter. If the majority of Republicans in other states do not want McCain, they should get a chance to say that so long as McCain is short of 1,191. That is their right. Look at Kansas. It couldn’t be more clear that the voters in Kansas don’t want the nominee to be McCain. Virginia disagrees. Fine. But lets let other states have a say. McCain’s win won’t be legitimate unless the voters give him the win, not the strategists.
Karl Rove did have some very good advice for McCain, however. He said McCain should stop campaigning against Huckabee and start campaigning against the Dems. Sounds like good advice to me. Huckabee isn't really a threat any longer.
Yeah, he seems tough. That is like a gun. In the hands of an honest cop it is a good thing. But there are situations, even when in the hands of a cop, it can be a bad thing.
Stalin was tough. So was Reagan.
If I agreed with Huckabee on even a small portion of what he has actually done, I would like his toughness. But I don’t.
Did he tell Huck to “calm down”?
>>How is it a lack of character to let voters vote? <<
It isn’t. But that is not what I was talking about.
McCain may still get the nod in a brokered convention. But then again he may not. What will happen is the delegates will be free to select their second preference and it may or may not add up to McCain. If he wins that way, it will be a legitimate win. If he wins because strategists drone on and pressure Huckabee to pull out before McCain has a complete win, then I will never see the win as legitimate. The strategists will have chosen and the voters will have been cheated.
Local? What's the benefit of voting Democrat on the local level? All that does is make sure the 'pipeline' for good future Presidential nominees stays empty.
Ive said it before, I’ll say it again; 2 target gift cards and a blender would make this guy go away.
We could clear that in a Freepathon in what, 2 seconds?
I’ll even through in a bailbond card for his kid, my dad has tons.
Well, obviously little Juan was just as “well known” then as he is now.
When it comes to caucuses and primaries....I am pro-choice.
As long as he promotes his message in a positive fashion and continues to garner votes, Huck should be allowed to remain in the race.
Huck shoud should show the good grace of Romney and suspend his campaign.
“Im pulling a straght Democratic ticket right down the line, federal and local this election if McCain is the nominee...”
I’m not voting for McCain either. But please vote for conservatives in Congress. We need them to help keep the Dem President from ramming his/her liberal legislation on us. If just for your taxes alone, please don’t vote Democrat down the line.
Remember, the Huck knows nothing about numbers.
He beleives in miracles.
He can still win!
Dude, the Huckster is done.
“Im pulling a straght Democratic ticket right down the line, federal and local this election if McCain is the nominee”
Really? Straight down the line. Doesn’t seem real smart. You’re going to make some actual conservatives suffer because you don’t like McCain? I thought I’d heard it all on FR.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a McCain lover - donated big time to Fred and then went for Romney. I’m not sitting this one out though, I have loved ones in the military - and I’m not leaving their fate to Obama or Hillary.
Huck should be able to stay in if that’s what he wants.
