I am praying the thousands will turn in to million.

We are 26 year veterans in homeschooling. My wife taught all seven of our children to read when they were four years old using Samuel Blumenfeld’s Alpha Phonics. Our children would rather read than eat! Because they read so well and actually love books, they virtually teach themselves(!) in every subject.

Go home schoolers!

Yes, I often wish my children would stop demonstrating their education long enough to chew their food in a civilized manner. I, unfortunately, can read and eat at the same time.

Is your family like ours was? “NO reading at the table!” ( during family meals) :)

Thank you for mentioning Alpha Phonics. My third child may be about ready to learn to read, and it will be the first child I’ve taught to read (the first one cracked the code before age 3, and the 2nd one learned it in public kindergarten. I am ordering this book from Amazon today; the reviews back up what you’ve said.

My youngest went to a small public school and by five he was reading newspapers. He later taught himself to play piano and now a blues harmonica. I never could have homeschooled them. I was too impatient. My life was a disaster at that time and homeschooling wasn’t really being touted then. The school they went to wasn’t a bad school but this was in the 70’s. My grandchildren go to the same school. They aren’t TOO politically correct yet. I offered to pay for one of my granddaughters to go to our christian school but nobody would take me up on it. Ah, sad but true (LOL).
